Jan Peelen, Attache for Infrastructure & Water Management of the US Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands in Washington, came to Houston to kick off the Texas Water Technology Forum: "The Future of Disaster Risk Mitigation", organized by InvestH2O, with a strong focus on flood prevention.

During the meeting, the diplomat emphasized the 800 years of experience in water management that the Netherlands already have, and how the country has helped several US cities with their expertise, such as New Orleans, Louisiana; New York; Norfolk, Virginia; Charleston, South Carolina; Brickel, Miami; and Houston, Texas.

The event also had the participation of different public and private companies, academics and government officials, as Marissa Aho, Chief Resiliency Officer of the City of Houston, who recently went on a mission to the Netherlands to learn from the Dutch experience.
