Texas is No. 1 state for semiconductors and wind power in 2021

A 2021 report by Business Facilities Magazine ranks Texas as No. 1 in the nation for semiconductors and installed wind power capacity and in the Top 10 in its global rankings for Austin’s start-up ecosystem.

Business Facilities published these rankings in its State, Metro and Global Rankings Report, the magazine’s annual across-the-board evaluations of economic development leaders, July 27. Texas garnered 45 spots in the Top 10 Rankings, including five first place rankings.

Texas is No. 1

In addition to Texas being No. 1 in semiconductors and wind power capacity, the state’s other first places included:

  • Fastest-growing metros by population — Austin-Round Rock-Georgetown
  • Cyber cities — San Antonio
  • Best business climate (large metros) — Dallas

Texas being No. 1 in semiconductors is especially significant.”

TxEDC is the privately funded half of a private-public partnership with the Governor’s Office of Economic Development and charged with marketing Texas as a premier business location to state, national and global industry leaders.

Texas, the world’s 9th largest economy, has earned recognition as the No. 1 exporting state in the United States for the 19th year, and led the nation in foreign direct investment and employment in 2020.
