The economy behind the World Series

The Astros played against the Washington Nationals in the championship series in the City of Houston.
Based on previous data, Patrick Jankowski, senior vice president of research for the Greater Houston Partnership, estimates that each World Series game in Houston could generate between $6 million and $9 million of economic impact to the Bayou City. Houston has the home field advantage for the best-of-seven series, so a maximum of four games could be played at Minute Maid Park during the World Series.
"It's wonderful hosting the World Series because it gives us an opportunity to show businesses and people outside of Houston what a great place this is," Jankowski said. "It gives an image of a winning team, a winning season and enthusiastic sports fans. Houston needs images like that —not the images we saw with Tropical Depression Imelda".
